Corporate Party Ideas

It is not easy to organize a successful party. Food, drinks and recorded music are fun, but since there are quite a lot of occasions to celebrate throughout the year, thrown repeatedly such parties soon get boring.

Why not - at least once or twice in the year, as, for example, on the occasion of Christmas, New Year Day or corporate anniversary - have a party a bit different from an ordinary drinking spree, a party to be original and remembered long afterwards.

So what makes a party successful? Is it possible to organize an unforgettable, smooth-running event on your own?

Corporate Party Ideas

The most important thing is the theme, the idea. But it is not always easy to invent a theme. And it is even more complicated to realize it. Usually, it requires much effort. When choosing a theme, it is advisable to pay attention to several criteria.

First of all, you should have in mind that the aim of a corporate party is not only relaxation, but also getting to know one another better through interaction, revealing personal qualities, etc. That is, the point of a party is team building. Therefore, it is especially important that all the staff members could participate. Here "participate" means far more than remaining passive watchers because active participation is one of the keys of a successful party. The role of a watcher (if it can be called a role at all) is simply boring. Let your employees feel that they are important and strong as personalities by giving them a chance to express themselves or accomplish certain tasks. A theme party is an ideal time to do it.

An inseparable part of a holiday party is humor. A light or sharper touch of humor should dominate in every theme.

It is also very important that the theme should be chosen considering the company's sphere of activity and the specialties of the people involved - the theme should be something out of the ordinary, maybe something exotic or lightly shocking.
Unrealized childhood dreams may be a good idea when choosing a theme. Maybe your boss wanted to become a fireman as a child? Why not put a fire-fighter costume on him and make him sit into a fire truck on boss day or his birthday? Or why not get serious gentlemen immersed in a pool of coloured balls? It's so nice when people free their true selves, stepping over the line of everyday routine.

It is also important to take into account the occasion on which the party is organized. Surely, if it is a or New Year party, you won't do without the usual attributes such as Santa Claus, Christmas tree, gifts and fire-works, and somehow or other the theme of the party will have to match the occasion. In case of many other events, the freedom of choice is greater, there is space for infinite interpretations.

If it is a corporate outing, the theme should allow time for activity: tasks to be carried out, games and so on.

Still lacking ideas? Here are several themes:

- Cowboy party (country music and dance, rodeo, whiskey, cigars);

- Knightly tournaments (show fights with thorny knob-sticks (fake ones) followed by the same sort of fights involving the participants, horses, ladies);

- Japanese samurai (fighting with kendo swards, calligraphy, tea ceremony);

- Fire-fighters (fire-engines, helmets, staged fire scene);

- Travel in time;

- UFO (flying saucer, aliens, other planets);

- Beer festival (beer pavilion, the German ,,Oktober Fest" mood);

- alternative sport championship (paintball, electronic basketball, curling, quad-bike race, running with five-man skis (a pair of skis for five persons), sumo, pillow battle);

- tracing classical literature (The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Don Quixote, etc.)

Once the theme is selected, it needs proper implementation. The costumes are not enough. The success of the party also depends on the choice of decorations, music, shows, tasks prepared for the participants, food and drinks.

Moreover, a party must have a culmination point. Be it travel in time or a medieval knight tournament, there has to be something to surprise or amaze the participants. It may be a flying saucer landing, an enemy attack or whatever: it depends on your imagination and possibilities.

Meanwhile fire-works, hot-air balloons, a ball-pool, trampoline, soap bubbles and the like may serve to create a festive atmosphere and complement the theme.
An inseparable attribute of a fun party is photos.

Now, should companies organize corporate parties on their own, or maybe it is better to ask for professional help?
Choosing the people to entrust your event to depends not only on the budget but also on your expectations, the time foreseen for preparation, the needed equipment and many other factors.

Organising a corporate party yourself is cheaper. But there is some risk in doing so since even the smallest details may spoil a seemingly successful event; thus, lack of professionalism may be a spoke in the wheel. Besides, it may cost a lot of time and nerves for the staff members responsible for such events as they may lack experience. Let alone the responsibility which will not let you relax and fully enjoy the celebration. Even if you have decided to organize a party yourself, you can still ask for professional assistance. Currently there is a wide range of such services in Lithuania, from party ideas to equipment rent. Among them, there are indeed original things for parties: the biggest grill in Lithuania, a submarine towed on the snow, hot-air balloons, bubble machines, etc.
In the global context, event planning professionals in Lithuania can offer high-level services. Choosing professional help in planning an event is a way to avoid repetition. It may happen that some of your guests have already taken part in a similar party, so a good event planning company will never organize the same event a second time. Moreover, experienced event planners will always find a way out when unforeseen difficulties arise.
However, it is also important to remember that an event starts from the dialogue. Clients are welcome with their thoughts, ideas and wishes so that professionals could offer the most suitable solution.

Discussing all the details and nuances before the event is just vital.
Some more tips when planning an event

To ensure a smooth and truly memorable party, it is advisable to start preparing at least before 2 months, even though it would actually take shorter.

It is also advisable to hold corporate parties on weekdays rather then on weekends, so you will have a greater choice of venues and entertainments.

Being the Best Barrel Racer

Barrel racing is the ladies event of rodeo. In barrel racing, a woman rides her horse around a clover leaf pattern in the fastest time to win. Any barrels knocked over during the run will add five seconds on to her time. This may sound very simple but it is not. It requires great training and communication between you and your horse. A successful barrel racing run requires a correct approach to the barrel, a quick turn and an incredible series of starts and stops. One does not simply enter the arena and make a great run. It requires a great deal of work and practice, along with the right equipment.

One of the first things you need is the proper equipment. Most barrel racing competitors prefer a light saddle because lighter weight means a faster run. Next you need a bit and bridle that is comfortable to your horse and gives you control. Most horses will want to take hold of the bit and run but you need to be able to rein them in and get them to gather themselves in between and around the barrels. Training barrel racing reins can really help your horse to develop a good bend and flex, not only in their necks but in their whole bodies.

Bending and flexing is a series of exercise that can be done anywhere. Begin by setting your horse out straight. After walking a few paces, reach halfway down the rein and bring your fist to your hip while applying pressure to your horse's side with your heel. Your horse will fight a little but do not release their head until your horse gives its head to you. The moment that happens, release the rein. Practice on both sides until your horse responds quickly and easily and your can see and feel their body curve around your leg. Bending and flexing exercises will help them to slip around the barrels. You also need to be careful that your horse doesn't develop the habit of dropping a shoulder on the turn because that is a sure fire way to hit a barrel and add seconds to your time. A lot of barrel racers also like to use barrel racing reins with extra braiding or knotting to increase their grip on the rein for better turns. Racing reins.

Being the Best Barrel Racer

Be sure your horse's legs are protected. You usually need shin splints and bell boots at least. If your horse has a really hard, deep stop, you might want to think about adding rear skid boots as well. Using an over and under whip can really help to get a little extra speed out on the final run home. Following these steps will set you on your way to becoming a great barrel racer.

Pro Secrets - Your Sales Resume Objective

If you're in sales, there's good new and bad news. The bad news is evident in the daily headlines: unemployment 10%. Consumer spending down. Plant closings. Layoffs. The good news? You're in sales. Generally speaking, anyone who can drive money to a company will be safe during a recession. That axiom isn't bulletproof: if sales are down far enough, and your company is teetering on the edge of bankruptcy, all bets are off. Then there's the competition. If you think you can deliver sales to a company, there are 100 people in the wings who are saying they can do it even better.

Bottom line: if you're looking for a job in sales, your resume has to sell you to a cynical audience - recruiters and hiring officials who have heard it all and seen it all on paper. Your first shot at making a good first impression is...

The Sales Resume Objective

Pro Secrets - Your Sales Resume Objective

Not every resume needs one, but I believe an objective statement is important and advisable when 1) you know the specific title of the position you're applying for, 2) your work history has been varied enough such that a reader would have to work hard to identify your current career goal. On that latter point, if you've got a background in customer service, sales, finance and rodeo clowning, you need focus and you need it quickly. A well-written resume objective quickly draws a bead on your target, and helps condition the reader to the information that follows.

Notice we're talking "well written" resume objective. Too many folks slap together an objective statement that ends up doing more harm than good. Biggest problem: they don't view the objective through the eyes of the hiring official.

What Not To Say On Your Sales Resume Objective

Let's look at a few examples of objectives for sales candidates that delivered their attached resumes straight to the circular file. My notes in [brackets].

1) "To obtain a challenging job in sales." [Too general. True, the writer has pointed a scattergun at his desired occupation. In this case, sales as opposed to rodeo clowning. But what kind of sales? We've got outside sales, inside sales, territory sales, and sales management. Challenging? It's a resume cliche.]

2) "A position in Counter Sales offering advancement opportunities." [Well, now the writer is using a rifle to target his desired occupation, which is good. But bringing up his desire for advancement in the same breath of air makes me question his genuine enthusiasm for the day-to-day duties of counter sales. Hint: don't mention advancement before securing even the first job on the ladder.]

3) "Seeking a position in Sales or Marketing which could fully utilize my skills and abilities." [Which is it going to be? Sales or marketing? In most corporations, those are quite dissimilar professions. And what "skills and abilities" are you parading? This writer has not tantalized me to want to read further in order to dig out those skills and abilities.]

One Case Study

Shawn was a sales representative with twelve years experience in a highly technical field. After combing through his work history and discussing his goals during a phone interview, I wrote the following resume objective. Keep in mind, Shawn had identified the company he wanted to work for, and we were responding to an actual classified ad for a position opening.
"Position in APPLICATION SALES requiring a top-performing sales leader with a consultative approach to business development and a demonstrated track record for delivering results."

Why Did This Sales Objective Work?

First of all, it directly identified the position sought, which matched the position opening. Secondly, it addressed the qualifications required in the ad. In fact, the keywords "top-performing," "consultative" and "track record" were actually in the ad, yet they also perfectly matched Shawn's skill set and work history.

Set The Stage And Keep 'em Reading

Shawn's objective was targeted and focused; it spoke to the needs of the hiring official, and offered tantalizing assertions as to the value of this candidate. The resume objective is not the place to prove those assertions. That would come in the subsequent "profile" and "experience" sections.

At this stage of the game, it's enough that the hiring official keeps reading.

If your resume is going to be fighting for attention in an extremely competitive field, should you consider the help of a professional resume service? "Yes," says former recruiter David Alan Carter. "But make sure the writers are certified and they offer an interview guarantee." Carter has put together Resume Service Reviews of the Web's most popular writers at the website TopResumeServices.com, reviewing quality of workmanship, spelling out their pricing, and giving each a star ranking.

Back Pain and Horse Riding

Back pain is a problem for over 95% of the population.

This is a favorite topic of mine. I get many e-mails from people on the web asking for help. As a Physiotherapist and a Pilates Educator I can advise riders on how to control their back pain. I have suffered lower back pain all my adult years and understand how debilitating it can be to your life and especially your riding. So many riders are told to give up riding by their DR. or Chiro or physio or even family...because it is bad for their back.

Here is a statement you wont hear from too many people.

Back Pain and Horse Riding

HORSE RIDING IS NOT BAD FOR YOUR BACK.

The job of looking after a horse IS bad for your back.

The key to controlling back pain is core stability and knowledge of the mechanics of how things work.

* As a Physiotherapist I treat back pain for a living.
* As a horse rider I suffer back pain.
* I understand the mechanics of the spine and how it works.
* I understand the heavy labor required to look after horses.
* I know the muscle energy required to ride with skill and good posture

Now to clarify what is bad and what is good for your back.

Sitting on a horse with good core stability and posture requires strength and good spinal alignment. This is good for your back. (Same posture as sitting on a ball at the correct height). Asking the horse to perform movements on command requires much more strength and posture control. This will strengthen the whole body. This is good for your back. A rider with good strong core stability will in fact strengthen and improve their back while riding. (of course don't fall off). I'm talking about dressage, flat riding not jumping racing or rodeo)

Unless you ride well you will not improve

A rider with poor core stability and posture will most likely not improve their back pain or their riding. This can change once they are taught core stability first, and then HOW TO apply this in the saddle. Riding can be bad for your back, but it does not have to be forever. Any person taking up or participating in ANY sport should train core stability before expecting too much success. I practice it, I teach it, and I totally recommend training core stability for controlling back pain in any person but especially in horse riders.

THE JOB OF LOOKING AFTER HORSES is bad for your back

This is hard on any person. There is much repetitive heavy lifting involving throwing and twisting. Even putting a bridle or a saddle on can aggravate lower back pain. Mucking out yards and carting feed all is bad for the back. Packing the car or truck for a competition, lifting the tail ramp, leading a strong horse all require a strong back. All these activities contribute to the cycle of ongoing back pain.

The Key To Controlling Lower Back Pain is Pilates

I strongly recommend training core stability (pilates) for any person lifting on a regular basis. The use of a back brace and a sack trolley can reduce the impact on the lower back joints while working in the yard. Getting smarter with the way you do things is the key to minimizing the strain on your back while on the ground. I use and teach core stability to all my patients in my work. I teach all my riding pupils about core stability and how to use it in the saddle. The next time you hear horse riding is bad for your back...tell them IT"S NOT you are training core stability controlling your pain and love it.

For further information on strengthening the core muscles as a horse rider look at Applied Posture Riding.

The Best Five Option Trading Strategies

Although options trading is often considered risky (and it certainly can be), it is generally both safer and much more profitable than stock trading. The wonderful thing about options trading is that allows for a huge variety of strategies to be developed that all have differing risk profiles.  Even though broker fees for options trading are significantly higher than those for almost any other kind of trading, this is easily offset by the huge profitability available.

The reason that options trading has attracted the reputation of being super risky is that many traders, driven by pure greed, have tried to achieve maximum returns in the minimum time.  Insanely huge profits are definitely possible, but when managed with a greed motive, crash-and-burns are inevitable.  The key to successful option trading is to "own" a strategy, to know it intimately, and to use it consistently and with clearly defined trading rules.

These are (in my opinion) the absolute best options trading strategies that minimise risk and give very respectable profits:

The Best Five Option Trading Strategies

Selling Credit Spreads - with almost no work, and about 30 minutes a week, it is possible to grow your portfolio by 10-15% every month. Success depends on simplicity, and this is not a strategy suitable for hyperactive traders or those who love to over analyse everything.  All you need to know is how to carry out a simple trend analysis on the market and on your group of carefully selected stocks.  This strategy is very profitable, and is easier than falling off a bull at a rodeo (and much less painful). Selling Naked Puts. This strategy really only works in an upward trending market, and has a somewhat higher margin requirement than that of credit spreads.  You can get similar returns, and the risk profile is just as low. The great thing is that, like credit spreads, you get your profit up front. Buying and selling DITM (Deep-in-the-money) options.  This is a great swing trading strategy, and enables you to effectively buy stocks at about half price, and so double your profit. Because your trades are all short term (3-10 days), you are not concerned about dividends or other factors relating to buying and holding stocks, but you do benefit because the price movement of the option that you purchased is exactly matched by the price movement of the stock. Selling Covered Calls - if you own a stock, you can effectively reduce the cost of that stock by selling covered calls on that stock every month.  This is a strategy that stock traders should not be doing without, but don't use it if you own stock for sentimental reasons - stock trading must be your business.  So, if you occasionally get called out and end up selling your stock, you can quickly move on to the next one. Complex strategies, like straddles, strangles, iron condors and butterflies.  These are all low risk, highly profitable strategies.  Their only disadvantages are that they are all expensive (either expensive options, or higher broker fees because of the number of trades involved).

I have listed selling strategies in my top five list, simply because there is a rule of thumb in options trading circles that say that "90% of options buyers lose". The corollary of this that 90% of options sellers must be winning!

Choosing the best option trading strategy for your business model is easy if you have the right information at your fingertips. It is also possible to over analyse, leading to analysis paralysis, so you need to know exactly what type of analysis to carry out for any given strategy. For example, when trading credit spreads, naked puts and covered calls, you really only need to know about trend analysis. All of this, including information on options brokers, can be found at Swing Trading Options.

Social Networking, The Pros and Cons of Social Networks

Social Networking has become increasingly popular nowadays as there are a lot of sites that offer this service. MySpace and Friendster are two of the most popular sites that aim to build communities of people who share common interests and activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others.

THE PROS

A social networking site is like a virtual meeting place where people can hang out and discuss different topics. Anything under the sun, in fact. Some use these networking sites to promote their blogs, to post bulletins and updates or to use them as a bridge to a future love interest.

Social Networking, The Pros and Cons of Social Networks

These are just a few of the reasons why social networking is getting a lot of attention lately -- it makes life more exciting for many people.

THE CONS

However, it would be best to make sure that safety and security are the topmost concerns of the social networking site that you currently use. This is because social networking sites require or give you the option to provide personal information such as your name, location, and email address. Unfortunately some people can take this as an opportunity for identity theft. They can copy your information and pretend to be "you" when engaging in illegal activities. Bad news! So be cautious with what you enter into an online networking site.

You could fall into the trap of someone who pretends to be somebody else. For example, they might offer you a job or want to meet up with you just to get your money. This can lead to cyberstalking, where the stalker uses electronic media such as the Internet to pursue or harass you.

THE CONCLUSION

So take your time and be careful in choosing who to trust so you can hopefully avoid this sort of unpleasant thing happening to you. Apart from that, social networking is great thing.
